paid about a dollar more than what we see today (10-27-2009). Never mounted a scope in my life, left to professionals. But I've cleaned up a bit 'of rifles, pistols and shotguns on the kitchen table. I bought this from reading comments from other owners. This is my first gun then vice I have no experience with others. After putting together (five minutes – for the excellent instructions) my first thought was a little 'expensive for a group of bolts and plastic. After using it to mount two zones on two firearms and the hole in the sight of (the former), I was impressed with the thing. Holding the gun securely while protecting the finish. I would recommend it. However, not having tried something less expensive, can work equally well with less expense.
